
Northeastern Law Receives AALS Award for LGBTQ+ Inclusive Excellence
The banner, “Queerest Law School in the Nation,” that hangs proudly in Northeastern Law’s student commons should not be mistaken for hyperbole. In early January, Northeastern was honored with the 2023 LGBTQ+ Inclusive Excellence Institutional Award
from the Association of American Law Schools Section on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues. The award recognizes inno- vative contributions to the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the legal academy and the legal profession more broadly. This fall, a record
30 percent of incoming JD and FlexJD students at the law school self-identified as LGBTQ+.

Professor Antoinette Coakley, assistant dean of Northeastern Law’s Bar Success Program, was recognized in March as one of the 57 Most Influential Black Attorneys in the Northeast by the Northeast Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA).
