New Opportunities in Vancouver
Northeastern University School of Law has received a $200,000 gift from the Mowafaghian Foundation to fund law student co-ops at social justice organizations in Vancouver, British Columbia. The gift was spearheaded by Abby Eshghi ’16 and Simon Fischer ’15 — Northeastern Law graduates and a married couple — and will cover compensation, travel and related living expenses for students working with legal nonprofits West Coast LEAF and the BC Civil Liberties Association.
This generous initiative expands Northeastern Law’s social justice programming to the university’s Vancouver campus, part of a 13-campus global network. Eshghi and Fischer, who met in the law school’s Prisoners’ Rights Clinic, channeled their public interest commitment into the gift through the Mowafaghian Foundation, whose mission centers on philanthropically advancing education and health.
