Professor Martha Davis was recently named chair of the expert committee for the HumanRight2Water (HR2W), an international organization that works to integrate the human rights to water and sanitation into law, policy and practice.

Professor Emily Spieler, who came to Northeastern Law in 2002 as the school’s first female dean and continued as a faculty member after stepping down in 2012, retired in June. Professor Jeremy Paul, who served as dean from 2012 through 2018, offers thoughts on Professor Spieler’s contributions to the Northeastern community.

Professor Deborah Ramirez was honored for her impactful work and dedication to uplifting women by the Massachusetts Trial Court as part of the court’s third annual Women’s History Month celebration.

Professor Alexandra Roberts, a leading expert on intellectual property and trademark law, has been awarded the International Trademark Association’s Ladas Memorial Award in the professional category for her article, “A Poetics of Trademark Law,” forthcoming in the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.

Professor Kara Swanson, a leading authority on the intersections of intellectual property, gender and sexuality, and the history of science and technology, has been selected for three fellowships during 2023–2024. Most of her time will be spent working on her forthcoming book, Inventing Citizens: Race, Gender, and the US Patent System.
